April 132010

Guitar Player Magazine calls the Fulltone Effects GT-500 Pedals ” …the most musical 2 in 1 distortion box…” With a F.E.T Hi-Gain Distortion and Overdrive Booster that can be set to go in either order via the “series switch” in the middle, this box is more than a simple 2-in-1. Red Witch Famulus Distortion Pedal

April 102010

www.ProGuitarShop.com – The Red Witch Famulus Distortion is a new pedal that adds a new dimension to the distortion overdrive scene. Featuring two completely separate, distinct voicings that can be mixed incrementally for an unlimited number of tonal combinations, this may change the way your guitar sounds forever.

The Red Witch Famulus Distortion is like getting two Distortions in one. Gain A has a extremely wide range from just a tease of overdrive to full on metal mayhem. Gain B has a similar range as A voiced with more midrange spank. The magic knob in the Red Witch Famulus Distortion is Alchemy. This allows you to combine the two gains for an endless variety of tones. Add a Tone knob for dialing the Famulus with you favorite pickups and you have an amazing new pedal on the sonic horizon.

Joe Satriani and VOX – Satchurator Distortion Pedal

April 72010

VOX is pleased to introduce the first pedal in an ongoing collaboration with guitar icon Joe Satriani.

Drawing on Joe Satriani’s knowledge accumulated from decades of groundbreaking performances, both live and in the studio, VOX unveils a breakthrough in guitar tone — The Satchurator™ distortion pedal. Designed to Satriani’s exact specifications.

The Satchurator produces Satriani’s signature tone and adds new features and improvements never before combined in a distortion pedal.

After almost a year of painstaking experimentation and road testing, Satriani and the VOX R&D team discovered the secrets to capturing the ultimate distortion tone in a modern-day pedal. The Satchurator is capable of very high gain levels, but operates more quietly and musically than other modern distortion pedals. It also preserves the tone and pick-attack of the guitarist plugging into it, regardless of style, from subtly distorted blues tones through classic rock and shred. The result is a professional-quality pedal that recaptures sought-after vintage and modern sounds in a powerful, versatile and extremely musical pedal design.

“The Satchurator is the most musical, most dynamic, multi-function distortion pedal I’ve ever played through,” says Satriani. “This little red box is a monster tone generator. Following my specifications without compromise, and adding design innovations I never thought possible, the VOX team has delivered exactly what I need for the stage as well as the studio: a distortion pedal that responds to my touch, and produces a big, natural, harmonically rich tone compatible with any guitar/pedal/amp configuration.”

Acoustic Distortion – Fuwa Fuwa Time v1.0

April 12010

It’s the Boss DS-1 distortion pedal. I’m using it with an acoustic-electric guitar. You can already imagine how much harder it is to play those barre chords/power chords on acoustic guitars than electric guitars.

Fuwa Fuwa Time!

And no, I’m not a professional guitarist if you haven’t figured that out yet. Note that this is the first time I’m playing this cover, and I play by ear. I don’t memorize tabs but I do try to listen to chords carefully.

I may not be that skilled, but I know enough to be bothered when people (including myself) don’t play the right chords on top of an MP3 file. I might have done that on this video, so that’s why I released newer versions.

General Guitar Gadgets Distortion Kit(s) Demo

April 12010

GGG offers four variations of its distortion kit: DOD ™ 250 replica; a replica 1977 version of the 250; MXR ™ Distortion Plus ™ replica, and a replica of the Ross ™ Distortion.

Though each pedal has its own sound, the builds are very similar aside from part values. The Ross ™, for example, utilizes germanium diodes to give it a sound of its own. There are also many options to further modify the pedals by adding additional diodes for more overdrive/distortion, etc.

Upon purchasing a Distortion kit from GGG, all the parts are included to enable the build of any of these pedals. There are also plenty of extra diodes for adding more overdrive/distortion. The beauty of this kit, too, is you can experiment with various values from each design to create a pedal all your own.

Visit http://www.generalguitargadgets.com for more details.

I played my 1983 Les Paul Deluxe through a Carvin V-50 head (circa 96) and a Carvin Vintage 4×10 cab w/ original speakers (no longer made). I played solely on the clean channel set as: Treb- 6.75; Mid- 6.75; Bass- 9; Vol- 1.

If you hear some noisy rumbling in the vid, its due to some kind of internal compressor/limiter on the camera. It doesnt do well transitioning from louder to quieter sounds.

MXR DD-11 Tribute Dime Distortion Pedal Video Demo

March 262010

http://www.tunnelvisionmusic.com/products/MXR_DD_11_Tribute_Dime_Distortion_Pedal-2653-0.html – When Dimebag Darrell of Pantera first exploded on the scene, he ushered in a new era of tone and attitude. When it comes to guitar, Dime doesn t need a warm or pretty sound. He can t be bothered with vintage this or boutique that. He wants a heavy, aggressive, razor-sharp tone that can slice through a loud band and a louder crowd. It s a tone that rages with distortion but remains tight and focused enough to keep up with lightening-fast rhythm lines and face-melting solos.

Finally there s a pedal that can deliver all that: the The Dime© Distortion from MXR. Crank the gain, boost the lows and highs, and hit the Scoop switch for a rhythm tone that will annihilate. Dial the mids back in and mow down the competition with a lead sound that can penetrate steel. If it still hasn t gotten heavy enough for you, stick the Dime in front of a distorted amp and experience sustain and sonic mayhem that s so over the top it should come with a warning label.
