Dimarzio PAF and Super Distortion Review

November 172009

A review of a Dimarzio PAF and a Dimarzio Super Distortion.

Sorry I’m not actually in the picture, I just can’t stand it when people stand (or sit) in front of the amp because it affects the sound.

Equipment (as stated in video):
-Gibson Les Paul w/ Dimarzio PAF (neck) and Dimarzio Super Distortion (Bridge)
-Marshall TSL 60W Head
-Marshall 1960A Cab
-Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor

I have other videos that were recorded with an SM57 for better quality that’s more true to the actual sound. Check ‘em out.

    Rockfield pickups. …
Rockfield pickups. Cheap, but very good for price. Their SWC set is the best. Sort of a JB model/Gibson ‘57 classic sound to them. Callum

I’m not 100% sure because I live in the states, but I’m pretty sure that Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan pickups fall in that range unless there’s some cost tacked on that I don’t know about.

No, they’re different. The PAF that I have is almost exactly the same as the PAF 36th Anniversary Neck model though.

I’d be willing to bet that it would be a kickass sound that would match very well with single-coils.

Who let the dogs out? lol. Did you just drop the Super Distortion in or did you wired it in parrell or something?

  22. jakeusurungus Says:

    Some of the Randall …
Some of the Randall solid state amps aren’t bad, and the Marshall ones get the job done also.

  23. Arkhandroid Says:

    shit good solid …
good solid state amps? as far as half stacks go, that line 6 spyder one or however it is spelled is pretty good.

Other then that, I’m too high-gain and loud to get a solid state amp that really makes me happy anymore.

I use a laney 100 watt tube amp from the 80s, with 100 watt speakers…. high gain!

  24. zeclips3z Says:

    thanks man, any …
thanks man, any good solid state amps? in malaysia, its hard to get good stuff, cant really go to a shop and test the gear, they expect u to order it and buy it..

  25. Arkhandroid Says:

    80s shredding, you …
80s shredding, you could do tone zone in both positions like Akira Takasaki from Loudness!

Or a PAF/PAF Pro neck and super distortion/Tone zone in the bridge….

I got a seymour duncan 59′ in my neck, and a tone zone in the bridge and it kicks ass.

and another guitar I just got is going to be a PAF Pro + Super Distortion, because it also kicks :)

Pretty much anything Dimarzio related will do what you want provided your amp has the balls for it.
