It just started doing this…cds sound fine though. and its not the cord, maybe its the ipod jack? idk though, anyone had any problems with there ipod when hooked up to there system? I have a 2nd gen "size of a brick" ipod by the way

alright i had this problem make sure the bass boast isn’t on the ipod then make sure your head unit is turned at 5 or 7DPs on all speakers then if that doesn’t work make sure ur ipod is not farther then 75% volume

Just like the headline quotes, there is something wrong with my P2. about 2 weeks ago, I dropped it from my hands (clumsy, I know) and it fell about a foot from where I was sitting, and when I put the ear-jack back in, it started to make weird distorted sounds.
Anyways, what can I do? I bought it in August, and now its October, so the warranty is still available. Can I still return it to fix it, or should I just forget about it and wait for the iRiver Spinn?
its not the earphones problem, I know that. Cause I used my DJ headphones, and they made the P2 sound like crap, too. And when I jack my headphones into my computer, its fine.

heyy.. since its under the warranty, you can ask for a replacement, but since you dropped it, they might refuse to replace it..

I’m using Windows XP and I have been having this sound distortion for a while. The sound crackles and distorts when playing video or when objects on screen are moved. The audio plays fine when the windows are minimized ie: I’m watching a movie, and if I minimize it, the sound is fine. Same with music, though it also plays fine if I don’t move anything around onscreen.

I have an old, discontinued 3DRage Pro PCI video card (can’t update drivers as the product is discontinued) and a Creative Live Soundblaster Value sound card.

I’ve also heard that Creative has had some conflicts with Windows XP (or so my very few results on Google told me), but I haven’t found any solutions in that area either. My drivers are all updated for my sound card.

I’m replacing the graphics card anyway, to improve my system. Should I look into replacing the sound card too?

Another thing I heard is that it could be something with acceleration in the bios or that my motherboard is somehow conflicting with it.

i am embarrassed to admit i am still using the same soundblaster live sound card as you are…if all the drivers are still installed with it, when i get sound distortion i click from the PROGRAMS menu the creative program and it should have an option called DIAGNOSTICS, i then click the RESTORE tab or the SPEAKER tab and restore to default functions, that always clears up any sound problems im having, i can still find drivers for that card however from the creative website if u still need to re-install the entire program~~~ good luck!

The speakers I had for 6 years finally stopped working, and I hooked up a headset/microphone combo. Now the voices on chat and when I play a DVD on my computer, sound distorted like "chipmunk talk". Is my sound card broken?

Did you plug the headphones into the line out or the speaker plug? There IS a difference. Check to see if you have. Also, you may need to reinstall the drivers. That can really be your problem. Usually, if your sound card is broken, you’ll either hear static or nothing at all.
